The entire student body of Hawkins STEAM Academy visited Imagination Station on Wednesday, November 12.
Students viewed the film "Ohio Wild at Heart" in the Key Bank Discovery Theater. A brief description of the film: Explore the wild beauty of the Buckeye State in Ohio: Wild at Heart, a trailblazing adventure through Ohio’s stunning parks and waterways and experience the joy of rediscovering Ohio’s natural wonders.
Two brothers and students at Hawkins, Levi and Asher Waites, are featured in the film. This came about because last year the school’s wide theme was "Big Year of Birds". All teachers designed Project Based Learning units connected to birds, and this family was very engaged and interested.
The school worked with Black Swamp Bird Observatory, learning about the Ohio Young Birders Club which meets on weekends and throughout the summer. The Waites family joined the club, and that is where they were filmed talking about their experiences.
